You're Invited! To a Great Pickin' Weekend in Hawai'i
Yes, we're putting together a pickin' package to jam in Hawai'i on April 23, 24, 25, 2010
Bluegrass Hawai`i will host their second weekend of "pickin'" at the Ho`omaluhia Botanical Garden on O`ahu (view video below). The park (which I have visited is the most beautiful place I could imagine for picking and jamming)... it is located north and east of Honolulu (short drive) and allows camping for free on weekends the facilities includes showers camp spots a pavilion and close parking. The park is shut down to in and out traffic after hours (once you are in you are in for the night ) all the info you may need is available on line (Ho`omaluhia_Botanical_Garden). My thoughts are to show up Monday the 19th and camp elsewhere on the island (there are many beautiful spots, Bro Jimbo will act as a guide for us and will take us to the Bishop Museum for a guided tour (he is a docent there) perhaps a day at Pearl Harbor and/or a day at the beach... or whatever... We are working to have affordable tickets available roundtrip PDX <--> HNL (call for details, NOTE: Flight times are filling up rapidly), For RDM to PDX can be worked out as well, the departure time and date need not be the same just that the tickets be bought as one, flight miles may (I think) be worked in as well. For further information the contacts in Hawai`i are... Jim Hancock and Sharon Sawdey. On the Mainland, Nancy or myself can also answer most questions (see contact info below). I think this is shaping up to be a terrific event and I for one look forward to getting in at the beginning. Hawai`i being what it is will draw Bluegrassers from all over the Earth. We need to get the ball rolling, if you're interested, let us know soon...
