Bitterbrush Band plays at the High Desert Museum and various other venues around Central Oregon. The band was organized in 1995 for the entertainment of visitors to the museum. In keeping with the theme of the High Desert Museum, Bitterbrush originally played only music that might have been played on the Oregon Trail and by Oregon settlers prior to 1900. Over the years, the band has expanded its repertoire to include bluegrass, cowboy, folk, swing, country, and old time dance music. Bitterbrush Band members are Becky Brown (guitar/vocals), Billie Lanier (fiddle), Dale Anderson (bass/mandolin), Ginny Hollon (fiddle), Mike Hyman (banjo/vocals), and Verda Hinkle (mandolin/vocals).
